Residential Seasonal Rate

Get The Rate That Is Right For You

We are pleased to offer a seasonal electricity rate to residential customers.

Under the Residential Seasonal Rate, residential customers will pay a higher rate for electricity during the winter months (December to April), and a lower rate for electricity during the non winter months (May to November), compared to the standard Residential Rate.

The Residential Seasonal Rate is available to all residential customers. Customers most likely to benefit include:

  • Those using little to no electricity during the winter months (December to April);
  • Those whose electricity usage remains static or level throughout the year i.e. consumption does not increase significantly in the winter months.

Residential customers most likely NOT to benefit from the Residential Seasonal Rate include:

  • Those using more electricity in the winter (December to April) than the non winter months (May to November).

The Residential Seasonal Rate is offered under the following conditions:

  • You must be a residential customer;
  • You must have been an electricity customer at your current residence for a minimum of 12 consecutive months;
  • You must commit to this rate for a minimum of one year;
  • On your one year anniversary date, the Seasonal Rate will be automatically renewed;
  • If you no longer wish to participate in the Residential Seasonal Rate, you must contact Newfoundland Power within 60 days of your anniversary date, either online at newfoundlandpower.com, in writing or by phone, and request removal;
  • Opting out of this rate between the anniversary date and the 60 day deadline may result in an adjustment to your electricity bill for any differences between the standard Residential Rate and the Residential Seasonal Rate during the 60 days.

Please take a moment to compare the difference between the standard Residential Rate and the Residential Seasonal Rate to determine what works best for you.
