Approval of Newfoundland Power’s 2019-2020 General Rate Application: No Increase in Electricity Rates for Residential Customers

January 25, 2019: Newfoundland Power Inc. received an order from the Newfoundland and Labrador Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities (PUB) on its 2019-2020 General Rate Application (GRA). The PUB order approves the proposals outlined in the Company’s GRA based on the settlement agreement that was filed with the PUB on November 14, 2018. As a result, there will be no general increase in electricity rates for residential and commercial customers.

No Increase in Electricity Rates for Residental Customers: Settlement of Newfoundland Power's 2019-2020 General Rate Application

November 14, 2018: A settlement agreement was filed today with the Newfoundland and Labrador Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities (PUB) regarding Newfoundland Power Inc.’s 2019-2020 General Rate Application (GRA). Recent negotiations have resulted in the settlement of all matters related to this application. If approved by the PUB, there will be no general increase in electricity rates for residential and commercial customers.

Flow-Through Increase to Electricity Rates effective July 1, 2018

June 22, 2018: The Newfoundland and Labrador Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities (PUB) have approved an average increase in customer electricity rates, effective July 1, 2018, of approximately 6.8%. This rate increase is the net result of a flow-through adjustment to Newfoundland Power’s customer electricity rates resulting from a ruling on Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro’s (Hydro) Interim Rates Application related to its 2017 General Rate Application and the annual review of the Rate Stabilization Account (RSA).
