Although there are many known telephone, text and email scams, it seems new ones are being invented every day! Newfoundland Power wishes to remind our customers to be extremely wary when answering telephone calls or replying to texts or emails that offer products, services or even payments you are not expecting. It is perfectly acceptable to say no and hang up immediately, or simply delete the text or email without replying! Never give out personal or financial information and never click a link in a text or email unless you know it has originated from a trusted source.
We are in the business of delivering safe, reliable electricity to your home/business, we do not solicit our customers to buy products or services. However, in order to provide you with the best service possible, we do have third parties conduct customer surveys on our behalf. Please be advised: If we call you regarding your account, we would NEVER ask you to provide your account information to us. We already have all of the customer information we require.
If you suspect that you have been the target of a telephone, text or email scam, report it immediately to the RNC or RCMP in your area, the Better Business Bureau or PhoneBusters at 1-888-495-8501. If the communication involves individuals impersonating our employees, please let us know by calling 1-800-663-2802.
