Look at what we've done... together!
Equipment – Through The Power of Life Project, we raised $600,000 to help purchase
a CT Simulator for the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. Our most recent support for equipment is the donation of $350,000 to the
Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre to purchase a new 4 dimensional CT Simulator.
This new equipment will provide our cancer care teams with the latest technology
and equipment to care for patients and their families in this province.
Healing Art Therapy Mural – The employees of Newfoundland Power donated $6,500 to purchase a healing
art therapy mural for the room where the CT Simulator is housed.
SunSense Campaign – We supported a SunSense awareness campaign
in 2004 to educate children about the sun safety practices.
Wigs and Turbans Purchase – We purchased wigs and turbans through this Project in
2005 and distributed them free of charge to cancer patients
who lose their hair during the course of their cancer treatment.
Education and Awareness – More than 4 million pieces of education and awareness
material has been distributed to Newfoundland Power’s 230,000 customers across the island.
Patient Support Programs – Newfoundland Power employees donated $18,000 for the
Patient and Family Support Fund at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation. This fund provides
financial support for costs associated with treatment – travel, meals and accommodations, etc.
Pediatric Patients –
a well-stocked Toy Chest was donated to the Radiation
Therapy Department at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy
Cancer Centre for Pediatric Oncology patients.
