EnviroFest 2008 - another huge success!

EnviroFest received outstanding support from employees and community volunteers once again this year. Several thousand people and more than 100 community groups across the island came out in support of our                  11th EnviroFest celebrations. All events were tremendously successful in increasing environmental and energy efficiency awareness.

“Our Environmental Coordinators, employees, retirees and family members invest a great deal of time planning these celebrations and have proven that all of this hard work pays off,” says Bob Pike, Chair of the Environmental Commitment Program. “The level of participation each year from exhibitors and participants speaks to the value that EnviroFest brings to the community.”

In addition to promoting energy efficiency and caring for the environment, we once again partnered with the provincial government which allowed us to make our EnviroFest events bigger and better.

Congratulations to all who participated in our EnviroFest celebrations. Whether you helped plant a tree, visited our environmental partner’s booths or installed a compact fluorescent light bulb in your home, you should be very proud of all we have accomplished together.

EnviroFest is held each year in celebration of National Environment Week, and each EnviroFest event is unique and exciting. Everything from environmental bingo, environmental and energy efficiency demonstrations, school ground clean-ups and tree plantings help students learn about the importance of protecting the environment.
